Valmarie’s Story

Hi Everyone,
My name is Valmarie and I am 39 years old.

I stay in Pretoria , South Africa and I have 2 children aged 13 and 10. I was diagnosed with Stargardts VERY recently (Only a month ago – June 2013).

My dr says that I have a very slow progressing form of the disease, but as you all know is that they cannot tell you how fast or how slow this disease will progress. As a mother my biggest concern is how to look after my children.

I am starting to experience difficulty with driving, and driving at night is impossible. At work, I am also struggling with reading. For example a 239.00 will become 29.00 to my eyes! I am a Financial Manager and not being able to see clearly is really worrying me!
