Sue’s Story
My name is Sue. I’m 46 years old and was diagnosed with Stargardts in July of 2002. I had blurred vision for awhile before I went to see a doctor. When I finally did go to see a doctor they noticed a pigmentation change in my eyes, and referred me to a specialist. When I got there they told me I had Macular Degeneration, and I continued to see this Dr. for a couple of years. My eyes were progressing, but the symptoms I had and the reading I had done did not seem to add up to Macular Degeneration.
I then went to see a Retinal specialist; this was in July of 2002. That is when he told me I have Stargardts. Shocked, I wanted to get a second opinion, so I went to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota and they also confirmed that I had Stargardts and they advised me that they knew of no cure for this disease. Needless to say, I was frustrated and scared.
Over the next few years, the changes in my eyes seemed to progress at a fairly quick pace. I was magnifying everything, from recipes to hymnals at church. I had requested a larger screen at work which seemed to help, but I also was magnifying everything at work. It was exhausting just trying to get through 8 hours.
In October of 2004, my left eye was 20/400 and my right eye was 20/80. Driving was becoming a big concern, and simple tasks were very difficult if not impossible.
When visiting my chiropractor, she told me about Glyconutrients, and thought it was something I should try. She gave me some information to read and I went home and showed my husband.
At this time in my life, I felt so scared and afraid of the changes coming in my life, not only for me, but the adjusting my family was going to have to do. So we started reading and investigating the Glyconutrients and talked to several people. It was my husband who said, “What if it stops the progression of this disease, what do we have to lose.”
So, in October of 2004, I started Glyconutrients. I got up to fairly high levels as quick as my body would allow, which was just in a couple of weeks. I continued and really did not notice too much in the first couple of months. The Glyconutrients work at a cellular level. This is not a quick fix in a week or so, but your body needs time to repair itself, so I was told you must be patient, so we started the nutrients with the idea we would take them for 12 months. If we noticed no changes, we would reconsider the nutrients.
The first change I noticed was about eight weeks later; the one symptom I had was extreme light sensitivity. It was to the point where I thought I was going to have to wear my sunglasses in church on a cloudy day. Any light was painful, even headlights coming at me would cause tears to run down my cheeks. This seemed to be noticeably better, and within three to four months, it was pretty much gone. My eyes over the next few months seemed different, but I was not sure what was different, I knew they were not getting worse, but every doctor had told me that my eyes would never get better, so the fact that they may be improving was not something I would allow myself to think; the emotional side of that was too great. In December of 2004 I went to back to see my Low Vision specialist and he prescribed glasses, when I got back home I did not get the prescription filled right away I had done this so many time and within weeks the glass would not be of any help, due to constant changes in my eyes. So approximately a month or so went by before I finally got my glasses when I went to pick them up I could not see anything and I mean nothing out them, my heart just sank, I assumed they filled the prescription wrong so I had them double check and it was correct, the next day I contacted my Low vision specialist and he confirm the prescription also and said I need to come back so he could check my eyes again, as he was uncertain as to what was happening. I was back to see my specialist in February of 2005; my right eye was 20/80 and was now 20/40. My left eye I was able to read the top line of the chart which is not great, but something in that eye is also different. I have not read the top line for years with my left eye, and the problem with my prescription is it was to strong, so I ended up with a much lighter one that I can see from.
The only thing I can attribute this to is taking the glyconutrients, I feel so strongly about this product. It’s hard to put into words, but it has changed my life. I do not know what it can do for anyone else, but it certainly is worth looking at. I now can see the speedometer on the car which was creating me great difficulty and I can read recipes without magnification. I believe Glycontrients will be the technology of the future. I now have my whole family taking Glyconutrients, and I cannot help but share this with everyone.
I would love to share this with anyone who may be interested.
Update – November 9, 2006
Hi, this is Sue from Wisconsin again. I wanted to update everyone on my latest visit to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
I was at the Mayo Clinic seeing my eye specialist which is a Professor of Ophthalmology, among several other titles. I have several doctors I see at the Mayo I had not seen this one for almost 2 years.
2 years ago they told me like most of you have heard that Stargardts has not known cure and that blindness would within time be the end result. When I was at the Mayo originally 2 years ago my eye left eye was at 20/400 and today it was now showing 20/80, might right eye was 20/80 and today is 20/25. My doctor could not explain the improvement. His exam and several different visuals of my eyes indicated the disease was still there; medically this was impossible, I believe his exact works were “I don’t understand this and this shouldn’t be”. I was questioned on what if anything I was taking and like I had previously stated in my original story the only thing I had been taking is high levels of Glyconutrients. I do not know if anyone else will get the same results, but I feel very strongly that everyone should be taking a serious look at this, especially people with Stargardts. My Doctor encouraged me to keep doing whatever I was doing as it appears to be having a positive result in my eyes.
After leaving the clinic I think I am still floating, what a blessing and miracle this has been for my whole family.
If anyone is interested feel free to contact my Chiropractor “Dr. Best”, she feels very strongly that this should be a component to everyone’s healthcare. 715-552-1827. Since I last wrote my email has changed if anyone would like to chat I would love to hear from you: brrymey@dishup.us.
