Sharon’s Story
Hi, my name is Sharon and I am 47 years old. I was diagnosed with Macular Degeneration about 17 years ago. I just recently found out that my diagnosis was wrong and I have Stargardt’s. No-one in my family has this disease.
My present vision is about 20 200. The most devastating thing that has happened to me was about 7 years ago when I had to give up my driver’s license and a piece of my independence. I have a wonderful husband who supports me and takes me everywhere I need to go and two great kids, a son, 25 and a daughter, 23. I am so thankful for them.
I am still able to work and carry on a pretty normal life but like most of you, it is very difficult and frustrating at times. I recently found out about a Dr. Nolan who treats Stargardt’s in Conneticut. Has anyone tried his treatment and if so, any success. I would appreciate the info. I have only recently learned about this site and would love to talk to other people who suffer from this terrible disease. It helps to talk to someone who can relate. If anyone would like to talk to me, please e-mail me at this address: Mfmdance1@aol.com.
I would love to hear from you. THANKS.
SHARON
