Jessica’s Story

Hi, my name is Jessica Johnson. I am 21 years old and I have been living with Stargardts since I was 10 years old. I was complaining of not being able to see the board at school, so I was taken to the doctor and they found nothing. Several months later still having problems, we went back and at that time my cousin was just diagnosed with the disease so I was sent to a specialist and we found I also had it.

I went to a small town school that didn’t offermuch help it was only the help of my friends taking notes for me that I survived. I graduated and met the love of my life in the same year – he and I were married in Feb of 02.

We are expecting our first baby any time . I do have the chance to grive thanks to bioptic lenses, it is only during the day but I at least do some driving. I have a lot of faith in God and believe my sight will be restored one day.

P.S. I live in Ohio, originally in a small town called Germantown. Now my husband and I live in Middletown. I love being a Mom, I had a beautiful baby boy on June 26th.
